NAMI North Texas Education
FAMILY-TO-FAMILY is a free, 12 class education program for family members of adults living with a mental health condition. The course is designed to help family members understand and support their loved one while maintaining their own well-being. The program is taught by trained teachers who are also family members and know what it is like to have a loved one living with a mental health condition. PEER- TO- PEERis a free, 10-session educational program for adults with mental health conditions who are looking to better understand their condition and journey toward recovery.
Taught by a trained team of people who've been there, the program includes presentations, discussion and interactive exercises. Everything is confidential, and NAMI never recommends a specific medical therapy or treatment approach. This in-person group experience provides the opportunity for mutual support and positive impact. You'll experience compassion and reinforcement from people who relate to your experiences. Through your participation, you have the opportunity to help others grow. This is a confidential place to learn from shared experiences in an environment of sincere, uncritical acceptance. Recovery is a journey, and there is hope for all people living with mental health conditions.

NAMI BASICS is a free, six session program designed for parents and other family caregivers of children and adolescents experiencing mental health challenges. As a caregiver of a child or adolescent with a mental health condition you face unique challenges: social stigma, complex family dynamics, navigating the school system, unpredictable behavior. It can be overwhelming. NAMI Basics provides you with skills, knowledge, and a community of people who can relate to your experience. You will learn from people like you, who get it, who have been there. Trained peers will guide you on how to better understand and support your child while maintaining your own well-being.
NAMI SMARTS for Advocacy is a popular hands-on advocacy training program that helps people living with a mental health condition, friends and family transform their passion and lived experience into skillful grassroots advocacy.
MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID (MHFA) USA is a groundbreaking public education program that helps the public identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health conditions and substance use disorders. Mental Health First Aid is offered in the form of an interactive 8-hour course that presents an overview of mental illness and substance use disorders in the U.S. and introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, builds understanding of their impact, and overviews common treatments.
NAMI North Texas Support
NAMI CONNECTION is a free, 60-90 minute recovery support group for people living with a mental health condition. Participants learn from one another’s experiences, share coping strategies and offer mutual encouragement and understanding. The groups provide an ongoing opportunity to discuss the challenges of living with a mental health condition and share techniques for maintaining wellness. All groups are facilitated by peers living in recovery.
NAMI FAMILY SUPPORT GROUP is a peer-led support group for family members, caregivers and loved ones of individuals living with a mental health condition. Gain insight from the challenges and successes of others facing similar circumstances. By sharing your experiences in a safe and confidential setting, you gain hope and develop supportive relationships. This group allows your voice to be heard, and provides an opportunity for your personal needs to be met. It encourages empathy, productive discussion and a sense of community. You'll benefit through other’s experiences, discover your inner strength and learn now to identify local resources and how to use them.
